About Mindfulness At Play

A guide to being present as a parent, to help you build a loving and trusting connection with your child that will anchor them for life.

Being present in the moment might seem like the most natural thing in the world for a parent and child. In today’s distracted and overscheduled world though, it can be too easy to let those precious moments of true connection pass you by, and before you know it you are living with a teen who is almost a stranger to you. Whether your child is still in the sandpit or a young adult navigating a chaotic world, this guide will help you learn the skills to parent mindfully and teach your child to be mindful too.

In Mindfulness at Play, expert authors Dr Stephen McKenzie and Angela North offer parents easy and effective ways to incorporate the benefits of mindfulness into day‐to‐day life for every child, from toddlers to teens and beyond. Informed by the latest research and packed full of practical examples, case studies and activities, this is a comprehensive, one stop mindfulness resource for parents. The clear explanation of psychological principles will also help you, the parent, to achieve a happier, healthier, more mindful life.

These easy to learn mindfulness principles will allow you and your children to:

• manage emotions with greater calm and insight
• develop resilience to life’s challenges
• increase self‐esteem and self‐acceptance
• develop positive friendships and relationships
• communicate more openly with you
• navigate the teen years safely, and
• focus and learn more easily

This practical guide will greatly help young people’s learning development, social development and whole-person development. It is a comprehensive yet light, playful and play-based one-stop mindfulness resource for parents.
