About Love in Lockdown
LOVE IN LOCKDOWN is a psychological thriller set in an inner-city, boutique boarding house in Auckland under lockdown, with a faithful portrayal of the paranoia and fear that pervaded the lives of ordinary New Zealanders.
Oak Tree Lodge is a classy inner-city boarding house with just four guest rooms. But there is nothing classy about Leo Murdoch, the proprietor, who lives upstairs and spies on his guests.
Covid-19 is sweeping the world, and the country is hours from lockdown. Meg Hart, a beautiful, backpacking tourist with nowhere to go, is desperate for a place to stay. There is one vacancy, the room previously occupied by the aspiring young actress, Chelsea Green, who disappeared two weeks earlier. And now Meg is trapped.
The government has imposed strict shelter-in-place sanctions, and she is stuck with three strangers and the creepy Leo, who watches her every move.
What happened to Chelsea Green and will Meg be next?
EARLY READER REVIEWS
‘This is a serious book about the twin horrors of a deadly pestilence and serial predator, but it is not all grim. The writer has a great sense of humour, and I often found myself laughing out loud. ‘
‘LOVE IN LOCKDOWN creates a startlingly accurate portrayal of life in New Zealand during the Covid pandemic in 2020/21 which resulted in lockdowns where people needed to form bubbles, fanatically sanitise and social distance from the outside world. ‘
