About Conversations with Money
If you were dating money, what would it say about you?
This ground-breaking book from a New Zealand financial psychology expert will help you develop your own relationship with money.
Through Lynda’s highs and lows of her own love life, the book takes you on a journey with a surprise ending. From this tragedy, the book was created to help you develop your own money love story, remove financial blocks, and create more wealth in your life.
Nurturing your financial wellness is just as important as looking after your physical wellness. While we aim for 30 minutes a day to be active, we don’t pay any attention to our finances, let alone daily. Managing your money should be part of your self-care routine, as is brushing your teeth.
Yet money management isn’t all about budgeting. If it were, we would all be a lot better at wealth creation. Your mindset and emotional relationship with money influences every spending decision that you make.
This book will challenge you to think and feel about the following:
- Your relationship with money; It is the longest relationship you will ever have, so how can you make it your best one?
- Your relationship with your partner and being able to talk about money in a fun and exciting way, by speaking the same money language.
- Your money beliefs and whether these are holding you back or helping you move forward.
- What financial fulfilment means and looks like for you.
Becoming financially fulfilled is 80% about understanding your relationship with money and your money beliefs. Only 20% is about practical money management. Here is your chance to develop your own money love story today.
‘Lynda had me at the initial question, “If you were dating money, what would it say about you?” Conversations with Money: A Love Story provides engaging, cutting-edge guidance for informed self-reflection and understanding of your relationship with money. The conversational style and implicit wisdom provide a systematic approach to understanding and revising a money story. This brilliant catalyst for conversations with money can have a major impact for the rest of your life.’ David Krueger, author of A New Money Story: The Beliefs, Behaviors, and Brain Science to Rewire For Wealth
Author Note:
‘Conversations with Money: A Love Story focuses on the money mindset and is not a money management how-to book. Unless you understand your money mindset and why you do what you do with your money, budgets don’t work long-term. I know this to be true from my personal experiences that have led me to a life devoted to understanding our minds and how we think about money. Inside the pages, I include the story of my relationship with my previous husband, Gaz, and how money played a key part in breaking our relationship. I was devastated afterwards, an emotional wreck.
Even though I was an accountant, which meant I should have had a sound knowledge of my financial situation, emotions had completely taken over. Due to bad decisions during and after my relationship with Gaz, I buried my head in the sand and looked to my credit card for companionship. I came out on the other side servicing $600,000 of debt. Twelve years later, I was alerted to the fact Gaz was terminally ill. On his deathbed, we unpacked what happened and reflected on our relationship.
Our story, and examples from clients, are the love stories of the book. I then give you practical information to make changes in your own life and relationships. I wrote the book because I didn’t want what happened to Gaz and me to happen to other couples. 70-80% of relationships that break up blame money, yet it doesn’t have to be that way, and it starts with reading this book.’
