Radius Kensington organized the Olympic Games at the Hamilton Cosmopolitan Club. Eight local rest homes and hospitals competed for the medals, together with our sister facilities Radius St Joans and Radius Windsor Court.
We all had an awesome day, with Hilde and her team from Radius Windsor Court achieving the best of the Radius facilities, taking away the bronze medal. All participants enjoyed the day and would like a sports event on a yearly basis.
The theme for the yearly Ball was Glitz & Glamour. Residents and staff took time to get dressed up in their best outfits and enjoyed the music played by Aldrich, our Clinical Manager’s son.
Monthly birthday parties, entertainment by different performers, the cultural days, e.g., Japanese Day, OctoberFest and the Halloween party were very well attended. You can never go wrong with good music.
We have started a younger person’s group. This group caters for residents under the age of 65 and for others who would like to be involved, with the focus on the younger generation.
Twice monthly get-togethers are organised, meetings with trivia quizzes, movie nights with fish and chips or pizza and special van outings.
The bell ringing group is still going strong. I have started bell ringing in the dementia wing as well. Those residents who can master it seem to enjoy it and are experiencing something new and different from what they do and have ever done in their lives. Our Kensington Ringers performed on the 13th of November at the Hamilton Cosmopolitan Club. This was a very special day for our residents who showcased their talents.
