Mynda Mansfield – Consciousness Matters

When I consider what is at the heart of all matter, I see that the very essence of the ‘stuff’ that comprises matter is energy. This energy is highly organised, all the kingdoms – animal, vegetable, mineral, Man – responding to intelligent information. Energy vibrates at different frequencies, creating, sustaining and releasing matter. If the essence of who I really am and of who you really are is energy, then does it matter if our belief systems differ?

And when I consider what is at the heart of all that matters most to us as human beings, it is that we have opportunities to give and receive love; that we can express through thought, word and deed those true emotions that are born out of higher consciousness, out of the purity of a loving heart. This is easier said than done if we lack a clear understanding of our true identity.

True identity lies beyond the physical, mental and emotional aspects of each one of us. We can all say “I have a body, mind and heart” but that is not who we are. The one who is saying “I”, the owner of the capacities, the one who dwells within them, is the one who is at the heart of the matter of true identity. The one who takes up residence in the body that forms in the secret sacredness of the womb. The one who incarnates, for a specific purpose at a specific time. And that purpose? To evolve in consciousness as individual souls.

The difference between knowing something in an intellectual sense and knowing something in consciousness is like the difference between knowledge and wisdom. The mind can store limitless amounts of knowledge – but, as we well know, this does not make a wise man. Those ‘aha’ moments that we all have when, unexpectedly, the light goes on, when we perceive the incredible glory of God’s creation, when we glimpse the sheer magnitude of the energy and information that sustain the Universe and that also grow a daisy: this is consciousness.

It is this higher consciousness that brings about transformation, first individually and then collectively. As we know from painful experience, no amount of policy, belief, education or war has resulted in a peaceful, united state of Mankind. It is only as we strive for the attainment of the higher levels of consciousness that we can recognise that we are one because, in the words of Luke (17:21)  “The kingdom of God is within you.”
